MOVING AN INNOVET X-RAY TO REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOORS If you have a local x-ray dealer, it is probably easiest to contract with them to move and then re assemble your x-ray. If you own an Innovet and wish to replace the floor the following instructions will allow you to move it to another room and re assemble after the floor is replaced or repaired. No calibration is involved since you are connecting to the same electrical supply. If calibration is necessary, please contact a qualified dealer. Since moving an x-ray involves disconnecting from your power supply, if you are not qualified to safely deal with the wiring, please contact a qualified electrician to disconnect and reconnect your power. To move a Basic Innovet, I would suggest the following procedure. The Innovet Select is similar, but getting to the wiring is slightly different. Email or contact us for specific details if you have an Innovet Select. 1. Disconnect the incoming power. With power OFF remove L1 & L2 and the ground from the wall circuit breaker. Contact an electrician if you are not at all sure what you are doing with this step as this electrically disconnects the Innovet from all commercial power. 2. Remove table top...4 wingnuts on newer models, ...weatherseal only on older (pre 94). 3. Remove the 170 lb front control panel by disconnecting the two safety wire cables that attach to the rear lower insides of the Innovet and removing the E clip and pin on the pneumatic shock absorber. Two men are required to easily rotate out the control. I would further suggest easing it onto a piano dolly that is padded so as not to scratch the front panel. 4. Open the electrical panel on the control and observe the system wiring. To open this panel, loosen the two screws at the bottom of the cabinet, (down where all of the wires enter). Remove the remaining screws from the sides and top sides of the control. The panel slides out to the right, while lifting away from the control. 5. Move the tubestand and grid cabinet to the left and expose the high tension transformer. 6. Open the electrical cover box on top of the transformer and remove P1 P2, and the filament wires (M XC, XL and Xs). (Leave attached to the control) 7. Remove the high tension cables from the tube or transformer...whichever you prefer. LABEL THE CABLES SO THAT YOU DO NOT CROSS THEM ON REASSEMBLY. Protect the male ends of the cables by wrapping them in paper towels and taping with masking tape. Be sure to get some new potting silicon compound from us before re assembly. Roy can give you instructions on the use of it. 8. From the control remove the x-ray tube and collimator wires noting the terminals from where they were attached. (This is the stator wire, 07, 08, 09, F5 & F6 and collimator wire (C1 & C2 plus the green ground). Remove H5 & H4 cables at the control that go to the tubestand. 9. You should now be able to move the control with all of the wiring including the power cord (L1 & L2), P1 & P2, footswitch (stuff it into the film bin), & filament wiring. 10. Tighten the vent screw in the top of the transformer (it is located in the fill port which is the third 1-1/2" opening in the top...the high tension cables go in the other two). You can now remove the high tension transformer and move it on a handtruck. Careful as it is heavy and a little awkward. 11. Now remove the tubestand. But first, install 2 ea 1/4" x 1-1/4" bolts from the back of the tubestand into the counterweight to keep it from moving during shipping. They are probably on top of the transformer as I generally leave them there. If you need to purchase some they are about 1-1/4" long. You need to move the tube down to align the holes in the counterweight with the access holes. To remove the tubestand, remove the stop on one end of the table at the bottom track. Note the there are two electrical cables that go into the tubestand labeled H5 & H4. They connect to a board inside the control and can be carefully extracted through the large romex connectors at the bottom of the control. They stay with the tubestand, so coil them carefully and secure with a cable tie or tape. 12. Coil the tube stator cable and collimator cable around the tube and secure them. 13. Roll the tubestand off the track. I would use 2 or 3 men for this job...two holding the tubestand and one out front holding the tube and collimator. It will be very heavy...be careful for yourselves and the equipment. 14. Now you can move all equipment into the new room. Reassemble in reverse order, being careful not to touch the connectors for the high tension cables. When you reinstall the high tension cables, squeeze some silicon (get from Roy) like toothpaste on the end of the connector all around the 3 pins. In addition, with a tongue depressor spread a light coat of silicon on each connector and carefully insert into the correct receptacle (do not cross these wires...anode is +.....cathode is - ). Rotate each wire until the male end drops into the slot as you can see by inspecting the ends. Push it in as far as you can and then start the threads from each cable. They are tricky to start and be careful not to cross thread. Hand tighten and wait 20 minutes and tighten some more. Check the next day and tighten again. The pins are a pressure fit and the connectors will loosen with time as you will see. 15. Make sure the commercial voltage is the same as in the old building, or relatively close. If it is not within a few volts, you will have to adjust the internal voltage taps to approximate the new voltage. Consult your manual or call Roy for additional information regarding line voltage. Test the x-ray to make sure all is well. GOOD JOB! |
